Notes for Franciscus Oravecz:
Several times in the birth records of Franciscus Oravecz's children, the notation 'Married in 1804' was written, indicating that Franciscus and Anna-Maria were not married when their first child was born.
In the marriage record, Franciscus was noted as being a widow, so this was at least his second marriage. At the time, he was 34 and Anna-Maria was 19. Before he married Anna-Maria Galata, Franciscus Oravecz had been married to a woman named Marianna, also seen as Maria-Anna. I doubt I will ever find out her maiden name, because the records do not go back far enough. It is interesting to note that the godmother to all his children by his first wife was Juliana Gallatin. Gallatin is the feminine form of Gallata, and an alternate spelling could be Galata. I suspect that his first wife was also a Galata, and could very well have been the sister of his second wife.

Notes for Marianna:
When Franciscus Oravecz was married to Anna-Maria Galata in 1804, he was a widower. Based on information in the Opatka RC parish records, Marianna Oravecz, aged 33, died in December 1803, which is about right for her to have been Franciscus' first wife.

   The day of the month of birth was almost impossible to read. It could be 19 or 29, or perhaps neither. Jacobus' mother's maiden name, Gallata, was given as Gallatin -- the 'in' was added to names for females during this time.
