Notes for Henry S. Young:
Deshler Flag, May 10, 1928, obituary:
"The time must come in every individual in this life for the curfew to toll the knell of parting days; the weary one must cast away his mortal coil and must lay aside his goings and comings, with all the activities incident to this earthly life. The time must come as a question already decided that the earth must recede and that we must write the last page of our history to be filed away as a scroll as generation succeeds generation. Again we have verification of this unchanging law in the passing of another friend and fellow citizen, who had for a number of years been one of the familiar personages to be seen on the streets of Deshler.
"Henry S. Young, son of Levi and Maria Young, was born in Pleasant township, Logan county, Ohio, December 21, 1848, and departed this life at his home on East Elm street, Deshler, Ohio, May 4, 1928; aged 79 years, 4 months and 13 days. He was united in holy wedlock February 16, 1870, to Miss Elizabeth Shultz, and to this marriage were born two sons, William H. Young of Deshler, and John H. Young of McComb, Ohio. The companion of his earlier life passed away, May 31, 1918. On February 23, 1922, he was joined in marriage to Mrs. Christian Hill, who survives. The deceased leaves to mourn, besides his companion and the two sons above named, six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; two brothers -- L. D. Young of Eldhart, Indiana and James Young of Brimfield, Indiana. Besides these there are others to be numbered with the family circle.
"Mr. Young had exceeded the allotted years of man by almost 10 and he had all the experiences incident to pioneer life. He was a very inoffensive, kindly man and had been associated with the life of Deshler and vicinity for many years. But the time came, as it must come to every individual to say adieu to everything that pertains to time. The memory of this venerable father and kindly mannered citizen and friend will be indelibly engraved upon the tablet of pleasant memories and fond recollections, by the many neighbors, with whom he had been for so many years associated. So the great monitor of time goes on with its constantly changing of tomorrows into todays, and its todays into yesterdays; (smudge) the great caravan is forever wending its way toward the incomprehensible empire of the fathomless ages of eternity.
"Services were conducted from the united Brethren church at this place, Monday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, in charge of the pastor Rev. M. E. Kruse; interment being made in Woodlawn cemetery by Rader & Spangler, morticians."
