Notes for WILLIAM HOWARD YOUNG:

Information relating to date/place of birth, and all data pertaining to the marriage between William Henry Young and Bertha A. Rosendale Ribling are from: Certified marriage certificate #3384, dated 3 August 1915, Probate Court, Henry County, Ohio. On this certificate, William H. Young was listed as being 43 years of age on May 1, 1915, which puts his DOB at May 1, 1872. Elizabeth Addie Wooley Young has information (seemingly well-researched) that he was born on May 1, 1871 instead. Elizabeth's information has proved to be more accurate in other cases. Furthermore, in the 1900 census, his DOB was given as May 1871.

William Henry Young was known as 'Grampy Bill.' He was the Deshler town Marshall, and he rode a bicycle his entire life as his mode of transportation. He was an inveterate cigar-smoker. According to family legend, he was born and raised in, and eventually died in, the same house as his parents, Henry S. and Mary Elizabeth Schultz Young. The house has since been razed. The 1900 census records list Henry S. Young as living on Elm Street, Deshler, and William Henry Young as living on Maple Street.
